Today, I had to fork out money for someone else’s debt and I’m pissed off about it. A VERY LONG STORY short, the girl who “rented” my house this past year mooched free gas off of a clerical error that wound up sending MY name to a collections agency. (I put “rented” in parenthesis because “rented” implies that she actually paid me to live there. Ha-effing-Ha). It’s taken me about four months to piece together what happened, but basically, the gas company was notified to end service on my account, but continued supplying the home with gas under MY name. They sent the bill to my “renter” who failed to correct their mistake and threw the bills in the trashcan. This is the same woman who almost always paid her rent the day before I could legally evict her and didn’t bother to pay me at all for the last six weeks that she spent DESTROYING my house.
When did this become an American epidemic? IT’S EVERYWHERE!
Two men this week were in line at the grocery store. Each was dressed in name brands that were proudly displayed on their clothes and each wore noticeable jewelry. One was barking away on a cell phone loud enough for the entire store to hear as they rolled their shopping cart full of steaks and beer up to the cash register. When the clerk interrupted his phone conversation to try and explain that she was unable to accept his food stamps card as payment for alcohol, he held up his hand to silence her and made a snide remark about some people not having “any f***ing manners.” After flipping out cash for the beer, they sauntered out of the store to their $40,000 SUV which was parked in a handicapped spot. TRUE STORY.
How does anyone develop such a sense of entitlement? How can so many people cheat the system, get away with it, and WORST OF ALL still be able to sleep at night? How can they hold their heads up so high when they obviously have so little self-respect?
Sure, our government is BROKEN and needs to stop functioning like a rigged ATM, but what disgusts me are the people that have absolutely zero pause about taking a free ride through life on someone else’s dime. Some people legitimately need HELP in this world and they are not the subject of this rant. People who need help aren’t proud of it.
